The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield is a philosophical book in the wrappings of a fictional story. The main character follows through nine “insights” or lessons that lead to enlightenment.

While the philosophy espoused in the book has many followers, most of the ideas are covered are basic human psychology. The author is preachy only once or twice and the adventure investigation story is interesting enough to make it a good book. There are a three books after it, following the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth insights, but they lack the wonderful flow of the first book and are a good deal more preachy.

You might like it if…
